No mezze is complete without a bowl of hummus and some warm Chapati.

Hummus is an excellent source of plant-based protein, providing 7.9 grams per serving.

This makes it an excellent option for people on a vegetarian or vegan diet. Consuming enough protein is essential for optimal growth, recovery, and immune function.

Also, hummus includes iron, folate, phosphorus, and B vitamins, all of which are important for vegetarians and vegans, as they may not get enough from their diet. So here we go.

INGREDIENTS

  • 250g of cooked chickpeas

  • Olive oil

  • Lemon juice

  • Tahini

  • Salt

  • Wheat flour

HOW TO COOK HUMMUS:

Put into the mixer our cooked chickpeas, a pinch of salt, a splash of oil, juice of half of a large lemon, and a tablespoon of tahini. Also, add a small cup of coffee with lukewarm water. If you see that you need more, then you can add more of it but do it little by little, so it is not going to be very liquid—mixer it and put to the fridge to cool.

HOW TO MAKE CHAPATI BREAD:

Fill a medium-size bowl halfway with wheat flour; make a hole in the middle and add salt, water, and a splash of oil. Mix everything well until you get a dough. Now, you have to roll your sleeves, place dough on the counter, and knead well, always take the dough and bring it to the middle, as if you were pressing something down but with love. Once the dough is easy to handle, we cut it into pieces and spread it out with the help of a rolling pin or a glass bottle. It is not necessary to let the dough rest because it does not have yeast. Hot frying pan, without any oil and fire to the maximum. Round and round, and we would have our chapati ready.
