Most of you know Katy from our social media, she is the right person when it comes to healthy eating and feeding athletes. Katy is working with World Surf league for years and she cooked for the best surfers in the world. We are so happy to have her in the YOGAGANG family.

Specially for you gang she answered a questions about the most important part of your training FOOD. Here we go! We hope you guys will like!


1. Why we should focus on good diet even more when we are training?

Good food and nutrients and minerals are what every body is looking for, when you train you need the right fuel for your body to get the body to work at its optimum.

2. What we should eat before and after training?

Before training I personally do not eat , but for people that enjoy something early in the morning i recommend chia pudding for energy , protein and mental focus.

3. What's the best healthy snack for athletes?

I am a big believer in all the supers , maca , chia . Utilising supers in smoothies , puddings , smoothie bowls and juices are a great way to alkaline your body and flod it with enzymes and nutrients.

4. What's WSL athletes fav breakfast?

Juices + Smoothies + our killer granola. We make a killer green smoothie packed with fuel for your body post or pre workout ! With juices and smoothies we are low fructose , high enzyme and mineral with added supers - we use 1 piece of fruit to every 3 veggies

5. Tell us something about sugar. Why is so important to be avare with it?

Sugar is so addictive, the more you eat the more you want. It is in all forms even natural sugar in fruit + dried fruit effects your body . We are brought up to believe eating lots of fruit and nuts are amazing for your body when actually to much puts it in an acidic state which attacks your cells - I always have small portions + always pick berries which carry heaps of antioxidants.

6. Big thing, smoothies and smoothie bowls. How to fix them to be healthy and not just full of sugar?

Where smoothie bowls often go wrong is what is mixed with them, and what you add to the top, store brought granola MORE sugary fruit such as bananas and apples will be the worst way to wake your body . Another way for me to get my supers - protein and I just toast coconut to add to the topping instead of loaded granola, but if you must add granola use our recipe my fave smoothie bowl recipes.

7. Your favorite breakfast, lunch and dinner.

When it comes to breakfast , I always have a green juice after training, a small smoothie , simple eggs and greens for lunch and dinner my favorite is a fresh salad with papaya or simple cranberry salad. 

8. Can food help with stress or anxiety? 

Food can lower anxiety and stress along with stablising supers such as ashwaganda and maca powder i really recommend !!!
