Hello YOGAGANG,

most of you know Katy from train.yogagang.com and our IG stories, because we think she has so much to share and her energy is just unstoppable we asked her few questions and not just about food and surf 😉

Who is Katy?

Founder and owner of Moo, I love plants and people with foul mouth and big heart! I love to laugh + make everything fun, life is honestly what you make it! If it doesn't light you up your not the right person for the job

And now, cut it into only 3 words… plant-based bossman

I must admit, that from scrolling through your IG account, I got completely lost in what places you have lived in… Tell us something about your home country and your travel journey, please

I am from a small island jersey off northwest France- you may have heard it it has been making the news recently!I have been fortunate to travel heaps of places for work and my business working with athletes, in plant-based school and workshops all over the world.

When did you first visit Bali and what made you stay?

I first visited Bali for my friends' wedding in 2019- We were about 40 friends that grew up together including heaps of my brothers' friends! I had the best time and realized I wasn’t living I was a slave to my cafe. I made a promise to the boys when I went home I would be back by December and I was! I was originally supposed to go to the USA last May but Coivd had me stay and now Uluwatu feels like home :)

You love food as we all do in YG, but how did you decide to make it your living?

Food became my living when I realized the food I ate was not accessible I would drive around to get a snack and be so done in with lack of options look online everywhere and never see cafes selling the food we were doing at MOO , I opened at Quikpro tour 2012 and never looked back.

What was your motivation to become vegan?

I am mostly plant-based, I don’t call myself anything as I eat what I feel my body needs, I think getting in tune with your body is a beautiful thing I already know before I eat something how it will make me look and feel afterward!

Can you share some typical mistakes people make when eating plant-based? What should we watch out for the most?

People going plant-based I find often overindulge on nuts and dates and meat substitutes, I just think people should keep it simple, fresh is best - also things like if it a raw cheesecake even if its “raw “ “vegan” it's still a cake doesn't mean you can eat it for breakfast well not every day - try and make things yourself store brought granolas, plant-based milks often are not that good for you.

Do you observe some other myths or trends that cause more harm than good?

I like to Monday to Friday eat my last meal last 6 pm try to eat mimes I have cooked myself - I do intermittent fasting- which I enjoy :)

The community around YogaGang is generally very active and works out a lot. Do you have a key to a balanced diet to bring the best results while doing sport?

Amazing grass superfood protein, vital proteins collagen, Braggs apple cider vinegar, aloe vera, charcoal, mac, chlorophyll, coconut oil- I pull it and dry brush with it use it in my hair its a staple!

What is the go-to meal that you can always lean on?

My go-to meal is always a simple green salad- Katy style it is my favorite dish - when I make it ha! Or snack of tamarin pumpkin seeds or toasted coconut

Where do you find inspiration for your recipes?

My inspiration has always come from seeing things people like to eat and trying to make it healthy - I really get a kick from that -

Are you picky when it comes to food? Maybe even the food someone else makes for you… Is there anything you cooked that you had to throw away?

I am not super picky I appreciate when anyone cooks for me as everyone kind of assumes after a day of working in my cafe I would love nothing more than to go shopping and then cook for them haha - but no I just sometimes sneakily season things unless it's my mom or grandma - I am like is their meat in that- they like no, just chicken - I’m like I can't eat that !! It s only chicken!

We can’t wait to see more of your recipes on the blog! Before we get the chance to, give our readers one final advice to eat and just live a cleaner life.

Simple things like washing and prepping all your veg and freezing your berries and bananas for the week can make this process of eating clean easier. Makes a difference or if you are eating out think about what is in your food/juices on the menu to help make a better choice.
