What’s up with supplements?

Hands up, who is consistent and takes their vitamins daily?!

As you may have already noticed, today's topic is supplements. We are going talk about basic supplements and their nutrient deficiency, balanced diet vs. supplements, yogagang favorites, vitamins routine, and much more. Are you ready? Let’s go!

So, what’s up with supplements?

Supplements are products that contain nutrients, vitamins, minerals, herbs, amino acids, or other dietary substances that are intended to supplement one's diet. They are often utilized to address nutrient deficiencies, support specific health objectives, or enhance overall well-being.  They are commonly available in different forms, such as pills, capsules, tablets, powders, and liquids. The primary goal of supplements is to provide additional nutrients that may be lacking in our regular diet.

Starting with the basics -

Balanced diet vs. Supplements

Ultimately, a whole foods diet should be the foundation of your nutritional intake because it provides a wide range of nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, fiber, antioxidants, and phytochemicals, which work synergistically to support overall health. "Whole foods" refers to foods that are minimally processed and as close to their natural state as possible. They include - fruits and veggies, whole grains, lean protein, healthy fats, dairy or dairy alternatives, nuts and seeds, herbs and spices.

The choice between a balanced diet and supplements depends on various factors, including your individual health needs, dietary preferences, lifestyle, and specific goals. Both have their advantages and considerations and in many cases, they can complement each other.

But, It's important to note that getting nutrients from a balanced diet of whole foods is generally preferred over relying solely on supplements. Supplements will never be substituted for real food.
