The very best of Copenhagen Fashion Week SS23

The epic Copenhagen Fashion Week (CPHFW) took it’s place from August 8th to 11th, 2023 at the Bella Center and YOGAGANG was there! We are bringing you a peek behind the curtain of the greatest fashion shows, amazing brands, cool trends and so much more!

The biannual trade fair is the leading Nordic fashion event attracting esteemed legendary industry leaders to the 4-day show running alongside CIFF Summer 2023 - within the most imaginative, dynamic, and disruptive sales platforms in Europe. Over time, it has transformed from a regional exhibition into an international fashion centre, presenting a forum for progressive and visionary brands in the field to exhibit their cool creations.

Scandinavian style has historically skewed towards the minimalist end of the spectrum. But in the last few years, a seismic change has taken place thanks to new fresh design talent. These days, the style set at CPHFW can be seen from outer space with their technicolour looks and a lot of experimentation. Bright bags, chrome shoes, and long sweeping dresses are swishing their way through the cobbled streets. Though some summer downpour has thrown a spanner in the works for some, attendees still managed to bring the most. Trends have become clear, from distressed leather and preppy footwear to statement bags and asymmetrical styling. No one does fashion like the Scandinavians, Scandi-chic is in!

Skirts x trousers

The Copenhagen shows proved that Y2K style is here to stay for yet another season. Some designers dialled the nostalgia up a notch by reviving the skirt-over-trousers combination once beloved by millennials. The Scandi proved once again that they are the masters of mixing and matching.

Yellow lights

Creamy yellow dominated the runway at the Rotate’s spring show – there was no escaping the bright colour. Saks Potts, designers used yellow on striped Oxford shirts accessorised with matching mini-handbags and on larger totes. Sarongs, trouser suits and crochet co-ords in varying shades, solidifying yellow as the reigning hue of SS24.

A love for lace

Peekaboo lace looks were a recurring theme. Models down the Amaliegade street clad in black and white lace leggings and dresses, accessorised with seashell charm belts and "Copenhagen" embroidered sailor hats. Lace was used to create bodysuits, briefs, floor-length gowns, mini-dresses, and for one look, even a matching face covering.

A little mermaid

An appropriate spring/summer spin on the trend by layering a sheer layer of silver-hued sequins over a floral shift dress with a contrasting black fringed hem. The former presented a stand-out lilac sequinned shirt-and-trouser set that straddles loungewear and occasionwear. Saks Potts used small silver sequins to provide an eye-catching depth to simple striped shirts.

The shows we loved the most? Here they are! Starting with OperaSPORT, followed by Henrik Vibskov, Gestuz and offcourse the closing show Ganni.

Lets talk about hairstyles for upcoming SS34

Copenhagen’s cool girls went for the easy hairstyles. There’s just something to be said for simply throwing your hair into a quick and easy bun with showgoers switching between slick, glossy versions and loose knots with lots of natural texture. Effortless low bun— the perfect style to elevate any ensemble. Some went for the twist method, others created breezy loops. Great and super easy hair option for summer.

If you've visited CPHFW you've definitely had a chance to catch a glimpse of some of the trends for the upcoming Spring 2024.

Let’s talk about … How to get invited to Fashion week!

Who has not dreamed at least once to sit in the front row on Fashion Week?!

Ahead, read on for everything you need to know about how to get invited and get in on the action for yourself.

Quite often you have to approach the brands yourself. The invitation is requested by press kit. A press kit is a pre-packaged set of promotional materials that provide information about who you are, what you do, what brands you worked with, etc. It’s distributed to members of the media for promotional use, invitations, etc.

Press kit example from our KILLER QUEEN KLARA.

How and where to find the press contacts of a brand?

Search for a section like Press Office or Contacts on the official website of the brand you fancy. Find the email contacts and sent your press kit!

Like any relationship to be established, it's important to introduce yourself politely, letting them know something about you and giving information about your blog or socials and adding the links . Then explain why you are reaching them and describe how you intend to deal with the fashion shows, (explain that the show will be documented on the blog with articles, photos and videos and that will be shared among all social channel).

Even if you do not get an invitation, do not be discouraged, the press offices may send invitations to the last of the list at the last minutes! Start now and get your invitation to the next Fashion Week.

Last but not least, let’s take a look at the bits and pieces from our YOGAGANG GIRLS that attended CPHFW AW23.

That’s all we got for today. Let us know what is you favourite look and what trends you will wear in the Spring of 2024!
